Dr. Katina Rue is a passionate osteopathic family medicine physician who has been a part of the AOGME community since 2018. Committed to her role as an educator and role model, and a proud graduate of the Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Rue serves as Program Director at Trios Health Family Medicine Residency in Kenewick, WA. Previously, she worked as Associate Program Director, Medical Student Director and Director of Osteopathic Education at the Central Washington Family Medicine Residency in Yakima, WA.

Dr. Rue enjoys teaching osteopathic principles and practices and family medicine at Pacific Northwest University and mentoring the local DO students, particularly those interested in family medicine.  Dr. Rue continues to influence the medical community, not just in the local Yakima area, but the greater Washington state, where she has been elected as President of the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) in September of 2021.

The WSMA is a body of more than 12,000 physicians and medical students, who all strive to advance healthcare in Washington state. As the first DO and Latina to lead this association, Dr. Katina Rue not only revolutionizes what it means to be a health care physician, but also models as a champion for osteopathic principles. Other roles within WSMA that Dr. Rue assumes are as co-chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and as an active participant in the Latinx Advisory Council.

Through Dr. Rue’s involvement in the AOGME, WSMA has become the first MD organization to sign onto the FAIR Act coalition letter. As a proponent of osteopathic training in GME, Dr. Rue and her colleagues published a paper highlighting the value of osteopathic recognition. When she is not inspiring countless physicians, and being a fierce dance mom, Dr. Katina Rue enjoys working hard on her five-acre farmland filled with cows, chickens, beehives, fruit trees and a Yorkie named Storm.
