This report summarizes applicants, matriculants, enrollment and graduates for academic years 1977-78 - 2025-26. Some key findings include:
- Osteopathic medical education continues to grow year over year. In 2025–26, applicants rose to 23,114, up 4.6% from 2024–25, while matriculants increased 6.9% to 10,297 and first-year enrollment grew 3.6% to 11,590.
- Total enrollment reached another record high. Total enrollment increased from 39,763 in 2024–25 to 40,905 in 2025–26, a 2.9% one-year gain and more than 10 times the enrollment reported in 1977–78.
- Long-term growth has been especially strong in entering class size. First-year enrollment grew from 1,163 students in 1977–78 to 11,590 in 2025–26, an increase of nearly 900%, reflecting major expansion in osteopathic medical education capacity over time.
- Graduates reached a new high in 2025–26. The number of graduates increased from 8,814 in 2024–25 to 9,019 in 2025–26, a 2.3% year-over-year gain. Over the long term, graduates have risen from 971 in 1977–78 to 9,019 in 2025–26, an increase of nearly 830% and more than a ninefold expansion.
