This report on applicants and matriculants uses data from the AACOMAS application to summarize the legal state of residency by entering year. Some key findings from this report include:
High Population States: Larger and highly populous states, such as California, New York and Florida, provide a high percentage of applicants and matriculants. In 2024, these three states accounted for nearly 30 percent of AACOMAS applicants and matriculants.
Stable National Distribution: Total percentages of applicants and matriculants by state sum to 100% for each year, indicating proportional representation.
Growth in State Representation: States like Florida and Texas have seen increased representation in applicants and matriculants. In 2024, Florida's applicants rose to 9.3 percent from 6.3 percent in 2009, while Texas saw a rise to 6.6 percent from 3.0 percent. Similarly, Florida's matriculants increased to 9.3 percent from 6.1 percent, and Texas' matriculants went up to 6.2 percent from 2.0 percent during the same period.
