Graduates Osteopathic Medical Colleges Race/Ethnicity Trends
The total number of graduates for academic year 2023-24 is 8,428, representing an increase of 537 graduates or 6.8 percent when compared to academic year 2022-23.
The percentage of graduates underrepresented in medicine (URiM) is 11.2 (11.248) percent, an increase from 10.1 (10.125) percent when compared to academic year 2022-23. This growth is attributed to an increase in the following URiM categories:
- American Indian/Alaska Native, non-Hispanic has increased by 17 graduates
- Black/African American, non-Hispanic has increased by 56 graduates
- Hispanic/Latino or of Spanish Origin has increased by 64 graduates
- Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander, non-Hispanic has increased by 12 graduates
There has also been notable growth in the following categories since academic year 2022-23:
- Asian, non-Hispanic has increased by 229 graduates
- Nonresident Alien has increased by 11 graduates
- White, non-Hispanic has increased by 246 graduates
However, the categories of Two or more races, non-Hispanic has decreased by 85 graduates and Unknown has decreased by 13 graduates since academic year 2022-23.
