Graduate Medical Education Graduates Residency Match Trends

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) collected data reported by the individual COMs to determine the participation by and placement of 2026 graduates in GME. All COMs participated in data collection. Each college, branch campus and additional location reported independently or with their affiliated main campus, except for three COMs. This report is based on data provided by the osteopathic medical schools on participation in and outcomes of all match pathways. Data are reported as of the end of the SOAP in March 2026. Summary Data reported by the COMs show that 98.76 percent of 2026 graduates seeking GME successfully placed in graduate medical education during this process. The nation’s COMs graduated 9,019 new physicians who will begin their residency training in July 2026.

AACOM recognizes the hard work of osteopathic medical students across the country, as well as their advisors and administrators, to achieve this level of residency placement. AACOM expresses its thanks to staff at the COMs for responding to data requests to compile this report.
