Strategies to Advance GME Growth in Medically Underserved Rural and Urban Areas

Join us on Tuesday, June 20, 1:00 PM-4:00 PM ET for the first AOGME GME Development Institute on Strategies to Advance GME Growth in Medically Underserved Rural and Urban Areas. 

The goal of this event is to provide the latest information, resources and technical assistance on GME growth from national experts. The audience for this event includes college of osteopathic medicine (COM) Deans, Clinical Deans, other COM leadership focused on GME, GME faculty and administration and hospital leadership.   • Keynote speech - A successful path to growing and developing GME programs.
  • Economic Impact of GME in Medically Underserved and Community-Based Residency Programs
  • Federal Funding: Identifying and Securing Funding for Residency Programs in Rural, Urban Medically Underserved and Community-Based Settings
  • State-based funding and collaborations with community partners to enhance residency programs.
  • Identifying GME naïve hospitals
  • Consortia Models to Support GME Development and Growth
  • How to develop programs for in-demand specialties outside of primary care in medically underserved area

  • Dr. Thomas Mohr, serves as the Dean of the Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM)
  • Dr. Ted Epperly, President and CEO of the Full Circle Health, a large Federally Qualified Teaching Health Center comprised of nine FQHC clinics.
  • Paul Umbach, Founder and President of Tripp Umbach, a company grounded in foundational values and an enduring commitment to community health and collective success.
  • Charlie Alfero, Executive Advisor to the Center for Health Innovation (CHI), a 501 c-3 nonprofit organization, which is also New Mexico's Public Health Institute.
  • Dr. Carlyle Chan, Founder of the Door County Summer Institute, serves on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Psychiatry Residency Review Committee
  • Dr. Loius Sanner, Associate Professor, Family Medicine, University of Wisconsin Medical School
