We are pleased to announce that David Kuo, DO, associate dean for graduate medical education and associate professor of family medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), has been named planning committee chair for Educating Leaders 2027.
A longtime leader in osteopathic medical education and graduate medical education, Dr. Kuo will help shape next year’s conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kuo's extensive experience as a physician, educator and mentor, along with his deep ties to the osteopathic profession, make him exceptionally well positioned to guide the planning of AACOM’s premier educational conference.
A 1996 graduate of PCOM, Dr. Kuo completed his family medicine residency at the institution and served as chief resident during his final year. He joined the PCOM faculty in 1999 and has since held numerous leadership positions, including associate program director and program director of the family medicine residency program, and director of medical education and chief academic officer of PCOM’s Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kuo has been a passionate advocate for preserving the distinctiveness of the osteopathic profession, supporting students as they transition from medical school to residency and strengthening graduate medical education. His leadership extends nationally through the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) Board of Directors, where he has served since 2015. After two years as vice chair, he became chair of the NBOME Board in December 2025.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Kuo on this well-deserved appointment. We look forward to his vision and leadership as preparations begin for Educating Leaders 2027 in Philadelphia.
